Birthday fast approaching and im looking for some nice new shiny bits!
Id like to improve the low speed driveability which to be honest isnt that bad, but any excuse to do some mods. Im more interested in keeping the low down torque.
Which of the kits did you go for and why?
The superflare complete induction kit looks nice but is it worth considering the sc power and v8 developments metal trumpets too?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have the ACT carbon superflare trumpets, thermal plenum gasket and the complete induction hose kit. I had the cam changed at the same time, so I can’t be sure what made the most difference, but it was definitely a much nicer car to drive afterwards. Much much smoother and easier to drive, and more powerful. It made around 240hp at the flywheel when dyno’d (can’t remember the exact figure) which is pretty good for an otherwise standard 400.
PS. It’s a satisfying job to do and doesn’t cost that much money, I’d highly recommend it. It’s also worthwhile to clean out the plenum and plenum base and check for any leaks etc.

I did the above trying to get rid of a small amount of low-rev shunting.
Didn't work.
Fun to do, bit of a feel good factor, but I would not be too convinced it made any difference apart from the depth of my pocket.
New Cam shaft, thats another matter. Huge difference going from a shagged out Cam to a nice new one.

The superflare trumpets are a good mod and one of the easy changes that you can make to get a few extra BHP and torques. I have them on mine and along with the plenum spacer and I felt it did make a little bit of difference to the pickup. The ACT versions IMO are the ones to go for.
I think you need to consider what it is that you want from them, if you are looking to spend a bit of cash on making the old girl perform a bit better without fundamentally changing anything then yes good move. If you are looking at seat of your pants mods then as others have correctly pointed out save up for a new cam or engine rebuild.

No chance ,no gains over mine .Got rid of the low speed shunting on our 500. With standard 500 cam (60k miles), ACT induction kit, the blended base and a Joolz 14CUX "remap" it realised 289bhp.
