Gear lever remote bushes

Hi,

I'm having a few issues with gear selection in my Chimaera. First, third and fifth don't go in very easily, and upon inspection the remote bushes have quite a bit of play in them (T5 box).

I have replacements and I expect to be tackling it next week, but I do not rate my chances of being able to change the ball and socket one without dropping the gearbox to remove the metal plate that it pushes into, as there is a circlip that has to go on underneath the plate.

Has anyone any experience of having done this job before?

Edit: I think I could easily get the plate off if the remote can come out. Can it just slide off the rod attached to the bell housing without dropping the box, and if so, how easy will it be to slide it back on?

It slides off and on, easy peasy.

Two the bolts that hold the plate on also hold the tail housing on. Is there a torque setting? I can't find any torque settings on web.
