Foam Between Rad and Bodywork

Hi All

I've just noticed that the strip of foam which fits in between my radiator and bodywork has gone to a better place (probably somewhere along the B2112)...

Should I have this replaced? And if so, any ideas where I can get the stuff?

You can buy it from a TVR dealer/specialist, a Motor Radiator specialist, or you can go to a DIY store and buy door insulating foam/tape and use that.

i had the same thing, although mine came off and stuck itself to the one of my cats! an enormous amount of blue smoke followed with me thinking, how much is this gonna cost. big relief when i lifted the bonnet.

It so cheap to do, you may as well. Without it, air will take the route of least resistance and go around and not through the rad. So if the foam is there, the car should run a fraction cooler perhaps?

Good point, well made; I'll go and get hold of some and see if I can't stick it in place with some heat-resistant sealant...

Like R1 CHHY, mine blew off and stuck to the exhaust manifold, so clouds of smoke and expensive smells of burning rubber.

I never bothered replacing it.

Not sure up and over would be the path of least resistance anyway - there won't be much of a gap between the rad top and the bonnet, and two right angles to negotiate. Still, as its cheap, why not replace it anyway.
