4.0 1994 chimaera budget rebuild power options

Hi everyone

this is my first post just brought me a 1994 4.0 chim which need a few things sorted e.g chassis and engine. Chassis wise I no what I'm doing but engine wise I don't if anybody can help it would be much appreciated. Brought the car with a suspect head gasket gone engine has been touched Yer but will get round to it this weekend. I'm planning on rebuilding the complete engine renewing bearings, pistons, cams etc etc but just wanted to know if I can replace standard Pistons which higher compression ones at a budget? I don't no what CR the engine is standard but seen new oem sets of pistons are cheap. Any help for anything I can do to squeeze any more power from the engine with out spending to much would be great. I'll be chucking in a Kent ultimate road cam kit and porting the heads and running arp head studs with cometic gaskets.

When u say tin gaskets do u mean the cometic ones Yer?
