DIfferential noise

Took the TVR to work today as the wife's Audi TT DSG gearbox decided to let go, first time for everything TVR saves the day, anyway raining hard so had the hood up, normally only drive with the top off, the car is great up to approx 50mph, but then the diff seems to drone, hard to describe but sounds like whoo, whoo, whoo, 😃, at legal limits it gets annoying, is this normal, I have a receipt from RG, who sent the diff of for rebuilt 3000 miles ago, I also have a slight knocking noise on a fast right hand bend, sounds like near side rear driveshaft or could this be the diff, hopefully the diff noise is normal, what do you guys think?

It could well be a wheel bearing, check those first

I have a similar noise at the rear and I am pretty certain its a wheel bearing. Diff has low miles and minimal play so am happy to believe its a wheel bearing at least. There just isn't enough play in it yet for me to tell which one so I am leaving it until it gets worse.

You could try listening for the noise as you corner, if it gets louder turning a certain way then that would indicate that the loaded (outside of the turn) wheel bearing is the one that's failing.

This is a worn RH rear wheel bearing making it's presence known on LH bends.....

Found to be very tired when changed.

I had the same noise, Seems to be the diff. bushes. Also knocking sound by pick-up to reverse and forward and also by cornering on the track.
