Broken Wing Mirror

Over the weekend a 7.5 ton lorry snapped off my passenger wing mirror! The Chim was parked out side my girlfriends house in front of a parked 7.5t lorry. He left shortly after I arrived and snapped off the mirror. All was caught on CCTV by the buildings cameras. But alas, no number plate is visible....


anyway... anyone know where I can get the unit replaced and fitted - my insurance excess is £250 so it's probably not worth putting it through.

All I need the metal connector between the wing mirror and the door - anyone know what the part number is or the donor?

I think the Mirrors are off older Citroens, something like a ZX? The Jaguar XJ220 also used them but I`d try the Citroen route first!!

The mirror is a Citreon CX item, also fitted to the Esprit, XJ220 etc.

I needed one last year and got it from Ebay for £40. Try doing a part search from Citroen breakers.

You should be able to salvage the actual mirror body casing. It'll be the metal connector between the door and mirror that has snapped.

The part you need is called a tripod.

If you ring TMS TVR they'll know exactly what you're talking about. They're about £15+vat.

It's a bugger to fit back on though!

Indeed, about £10-£15.. most TVR dealers have them in stock. I would say that its not that hard to fit back on mind you (as long as you get the wiring sorted out) if you don't rush it.. have a search through the S Series and the Chim archives for "Mirror Tripod" and you'll find the method posted somewhere, I've explained it on here in detail at least three times in the last few years.

I just ordered 2 (one spare) from TVR TMS - total price £18 incl P&P.

Just have to fit the devil now

yes 3 - they are made of "munkey metal" so I planned ahead in case I broke one when fitting it...they're a bit delicate and a pain to fit..
