What is the best car for comfort

I have been driving my tvr for my sales job covering east anglia and quite simply am getting bored of going to the petrol station every day and i want a heck of a lot more room...

what would you suggest? I dont want to spend anymore than 5000 on it. I want minimum 32 mpg

I want pure luxury comfort so i am still refreshed at the end of the drive as I do nearly 700 miles per week

Whatcar rate the Honda 4* which from whatcar is amazing because their rating is usually well below customer reviews.

The Volvo S60 only scores 3* customer reviews 4*

I'm pretty tempted on that Volvo myself... But I just spent £200 on my Nissan this morning and the mechanic said it's good for another 100K

Go for the coupe instead and the TT will be bigger inside than a Chim plus it has a hatch back and fold down rear seats rather than a bootlid.

Depending what you consider 'heck of' to mean. This could lead to issues with meeting the MPG requirment.

Given they're using a TVR as a rep mobile then that implies a certain image being projected. One a '5-door hatch' isn't going to project.

cl 500 loads of space 32ish to gallon change it to lpg you get 60ish for the price of a gallon cost £1500 to convert

Thanks chaps i am going to look at all these, i remember in my old mechanic job servicing an accord diesel and it was a beauty to drive actually!

I really like mercedes quality and comfort so i will look at a s500 lpg conversion

My daily is an Audi A8 3.0 TDI Quattro auto. Awesome engine, 230 bhp and mountains of torque, no envy issues as it looks like every other Audi. Immensely comfortable seats, lots of space, safe in winter thanks to the 4wheel drive, 38-45 mpg all day long on decent journeys.

I am at Newmarket and Abington (a11 south of Cambridge) on Tuesday if you fancy a test drive.

I am sure I might get ridiculed for this but here goes....having had 5 series for a number of years, 3 Audi a8's, volvo v70's and porsche 928's the best daily driver I have owned is.......the humble Ford Mondeo tdci. 55mpg, very, very comfortable (far better than any of the German kit), peanuts to service and good to drive too. Bottom line is that the less you spend on your daily driver the more there is available for the fire breathing monster in the garage! Go for the Titanium model with all the bells and whistles.
I did 700 miles in mine on Monday and still felt fresh when I got home.

BMW 520D although I love the idea of the Mondeo.

The older I get the less I care about badges. I now usually use our 4th car for London and local visits, a 1.2 56 plate Micra, a brilliant car although I'm not suggesting you buy one

Had 4 Volvo V40's/50's and I'd never go near another Volvo. Currently have a 07 plate Mondeo ST TDCI, can't fault it. 145k on the clock and runs like a dream, really quite quick and had over 60mpg on a careful run. All for under £3k

Renault Safrane. Shouldn't cost you more than a couple of hundred quid. Like driving a sofa on wheels. I still have no idea what the filled the seats with. Clouds I think.

Good call on the Mondeo... I had one of these as a rent car for a few weeks few years ago,pleasantly surprised. But then again I also had a Vauxhall Insignia on rent for a few weeks and thought that was pretty good too.

We are talking mile munchers here and I thought both of the above drove perfect for motorway or A to B usage.

Audi 3.0 TDI Quattro A6 (c6) good, but thirsty on diesel. Avoid the 2.7 Auto. E39 and E60 525d 530d also worth a look. In fact the E39 is a better drive than the E60 IMO. Accord diesel also a really nice car to drive too.

I had a S60 D5 from new in 2002. Used to do 30K a year in it. It was a great car for the job it needed to do, amazing seats and awesome stereo but it was boring. A mate has a 2007 mondeo and he loves it. It's full of kit (titanium) and he has had no issues. Having just brought a new Astra for daily duties I am amazed how a bog standard model can feel so good compared to the st box I had before (2003 147). Modern cars really have come a long way.

What I am trying to say is get something as modern as possible, at least it would have a few toys like Bluetooth etc. The S60 would feel very dated if you see what I mean.

Would that buy a newer shape Octavia RS diesel? Worth a look.

If the first thing is comfort, has to be a Jag XJ! The 3 litre petrol or the diesel will meet your MPG. Failing that, Citroen C6, although they are a bit FWD.
