FWIW never press the button.
In my car at least, it locks the doors (as it's supposed to) but then it's 50/50 if it unlocks properly from outside next time I try to unlock it from the plipper.
More trouble than it's worth in my opinion as nobody can get into the car from the outside when it's unlocked anyway as they don't know how to open the doors!!!!

Mine doesn't (May 97) car.
I get no light if ignition is not engaged. Ignition on with door open it just flashes,door closed and press button the doors will lock and green light stays on. Turn the knob door opens light goes out.
The only time It gets pressed though is by mistake,I think in 22 months I have only engaged it once when I meant to.
But no green light unless ignition is turned on in my car.

It can't be much power draining,but any on these is only likely to cause problems,sorry I can't help with the fix it though.
I have a Pro-Lite Alpha battery charger fitted in the boot,if you don't have one then I would recommend fitting one. If you haven't got one then I would be starting the car every day or two otherwise that drainage(Even a small amount) will spoil your day when you want to use the car.

The Anderson leads makes life easier for when you want to jump(I have this fitted) but it's a trickle charge that you need.

Try locking and unlocking the car again with the alarm button first,failing that if the battery has drained to nothing then even charging will have little affect. If you can go through the hassle of jumping from another car then you know your battery has had it.
