As per the title.

Many years ago i rebuilt quite a few mini engines and the rebuild oil of choice then was wynns STP

You just put plenty of it everywhere. It was so thick it was like treacle.

I hope to put in the new cam next week and it may come with some grease as part of a kit, but just thought i would ask the masses on your choice of lube.........and keep the answers clean !

Your new cam should come with some proper cam lube which like you say is like red treackle. just use this its made for the job.

Out of interest though John Eales recently told me to just use a thick gear oil.

What cam have you gone for ?

Spoke to TVR Power, i just want a standard cam as installed by TVR originally.

Do not want to mess around trying to set the preloads etc, so going "like for like" it should be a straight forward install.

The performance of the standard cam is more than ample for me.

I would steer clear of STP after what I was shown when working as a mechanic. I prefer WYNNS engine stop leak. Also like treacle but is an excellent rebuild lubricant. Or Red rebuild grease by Castrol or one of the others
