Drivers belt has been a little lazy retracting but yesterday it would not let me pull it out to put it on no matter how hard I tried.
Anyone changed theirs recently?

This isn't unusual and often happens when parked facing downhill.
There have been a few threads over the years about seat belt mods. This appears to be the most recent

Ok thanks, previous threads seem to suggest that securon 500/30 belts are a good fit.

Easy to change but watch shearing the bolt that goes into the outrigger. Use some plus gas the night before you try and undo it. A pain in the Axxx if it shears off. The Securon 500/30 belt is more or less the same as the original.i think I got mine from Rimmer Brothers

As a tip I used the new bracket that connects the belt to the outrigger down by the side of the seat and bolted it to the existing bracket so therefore you don't have to remove the old bolt. you get a batter angle as well. You just need to cut the old belt off the old bracket

Hi
Have just seen your thread about seat belts ,I did this to my S2 and it did improve the belt being retracted and am thinking of doing the same to my Chimaera ,Its quite a cheap fix too

There are a couple of companies out there that will rebuild your current belt, you can also specify the colour of the belt too if you fancy a change.

What's wrong with the ones for sale in the PH classifieds for about £80

How many people have done the 'S' belt mod now then? Is it working out? I have the interior in bits and new seatbelts are on the radar when I re-assemble. The rose joint idea looks good to me.

The rose joint looks very neat but puts the seatbelt guide in a different plane to the way it was designed, may not be important but I don't know.

I extended my belts (to clear the carpets) this way and it works fine.

This was my solution

The bend in the plate is to take account of the upward sweeping angle of the original top mounting point surface. Without the bend the extension plate would exert a downward leverage on the original mounting socket. The bend was made in my garage using a vice and hammer so it isn't very precise but the leverage issue relates to the shoulder hight of the wearer so perfection isn't important. I just aimed for both bolt holes to be horizontal when in fitted

The easy access guides were made many years ago, they are 'handed' and made out of spare materials I had in stock. The round bar is welded into the plate

Very neat, I've no idea where to get stuff like that made up. The Rose joints win on easiness!

Has anyone got these for the chimaera? Need to replace the passenger side system as the tensioner exploded! Not so sure about the quality of this product as coming from China. Not sure I would trust the safety of a kid to them. Any EU/UK-sourced recommendations?

That's a Chinese copy by the look of it. I replaced one on my last Chimaera after I had a similar problem, the end cap came off and the tensioner unwound itself.

For only £30 ish, get a Securon, It's what I had fitted (they are £57 from Securon's own website if you prefer):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-FRONT-Securon-Seat-...

I say 'had fitted' because there's a danger of shearing off the bolt that holds the bottom strap to the chassis. The stalk (female end) is a few cm longer than the original equipment though, and a smallish passenger may have the stalk end clip in their lap. You have to change both parts, not just legally but because the clip receptacle is a different size.

That's strange, the one I linked to was made by Securon ?
