Are Chimaera front seats interchangable?

Surprisingly (with 233k miles) I have a very worn drivers seat, which looks like it has previously been repaired (connolised) but has since become cracked again. I am going to see if Furniture clinic can repair it again, however conscious that it will be more likely to crack again, can I swap the front seats round and give the other one some wear?

Yes, but you will need to swap over the parallelogram shaped metal bits that raise the front of the driver's seat. Just held on by a 13mm nut IIRC.

I did this once to even up wear. You have to swap over the seatbelt stalks as well of course but yes, they should swap over.

Not in a later Chim - they are bolted through the fibreglass of the transmission tunnel into the chassis.

Apologies, you're right. I swapped the seats on my 1995 Chimaera 500 in 2001 to even the wear (magnolia shows it up) and remember swapping them.

I've had my W reg Chimaera 400 for over a year and never noticed the seatbelt stalks were bolted through the tunnel.

I had the seat out yesterday and swapped a Westfield seat in......guess that's cheating! Kinda fresh in the memory.
I also fitted harness anchorages to the seat belt mountings about a year ago, and remember the problems I had with one of the transmission tunnel ones. Nick at Willow Sportscars, bless him, managed to get the stuck bolt out, tap out the thread, and fit a new bolt for me. As I am not even a customer of his, that counts as going an extra mile in my book - he wouldn't even let me pay him.

I have a 2000 model and swapped them over. You need to swap the two box sections lifting the front of the seat as well.

I didn't swap the seatbelts but you have to be careful of the tilt lever catching on them.

Otherwise a simple job.
