Badge removal

Sorry, second question but unrelated.

Can someone tell me how to remove the front and rear badges on my 450? I plan to send them to PPC (Leven) to get them refurbished, unless anyone suggests otherwise.

Also my car is dark blue and I am thinking of going for the gold badges. Again unless anyone can suggest why not?

Front badge is male so is attached by two small nuts.....I think they are 8mm. Or possibly 10mm. Simply look on the underside of the bonnet and undo them with a socket. I think the usual suspects can sell you a new badge, or you can get a Union Jack one if you like them.

My starmist blue 450 has factory-fitted gold badges. I read somewhere that they were an eye-watering couple of hundred quid option. And it has factory aircon, which I believe was a couple of grand!

The gold badges look very good against the dark blue.

My front badge has threaded studs but no nuts on the back. It was just stuck and glued on. The rear was held on by two nuts but you need to pull away a lot of carpet to get at them and virtually climb into the boot for access.

I took a tip from someone on here so I rubbed all the electroplate off to the expose the brass and then touched up the black area and applied lacquer. Total cost about £5. From this:

Thanks. Just went out and took one of it on the car. I made an oval rubber gasket as well for it instead of the sticky gunge that was on there before. Its bolted on so double sided sticky foam wasn't really necessary.



You'll need some carpet glue as well afterwards. I used some spray adhesive that is more tacky than really sticky because you never know when the carpet will have to come off again.
