But only for the ACT triple..

OK, so maybe not breaking news, but I've just (by accident) got onto the ACS-PRO website, which is ACT's trading partner in Germany smile One of the items they list in the multi throttle packages is 54mm TB's, but only for the triple, it say's (quote) '54mm throttles (for triple only) , for 350+bhp applications'

The rest of the website is in German, and there's no mention of the 54mm TB's on ACT's website frown

So.. The 'standard' TB's(I'm pretty sure) are 48mm, so I'm wondering what bigger TB's would give... obviously depends on other work done etc, but beastie falls into the 350+bhp application, so I'm a teensy weensy bit excited about the possibility of a power & torque hike from a pretty straightforward bolt on mod smile (ok, maybe bigger injectors and a remap too)

Wotcha think guys wotcha think??? Huh?

And breathe... slowly...

Not worth it IMO I think you will find only air dispribution improvments (TB per cylinder) will increase power not bigger TB's on the carbon triple, it's still a plenum system and I don't believe the size you have already are a restriction.

You're probably right Simon...

Found this though from 2006... wish I'd seen it before I had the bespoke air box made smile

Piccie of my 'home made' air box and larger bore inlet hose smile

Joolzs comments when mapping my car was that max power was achieved below full throttle.

Meaning the heads and inlet are the restriction.

I believe with Robs heads recently serviced and tweaked by David Knight are probably the Carlsburg of Rover heads so unless going wildcat/another type of head we are probably stuffed for further performance without going FI.

Damn this FI stuff, I'd have to have new LC pistons to do it properly, and possibly a different cam frown

You could keep it as is and just have a low boost but don't forget, you are starting with more in the first place.

How serious are you, I certainly am not.

Given the money I'd have a decent 911, a proper car, well built where everything works but we are talking real money.

TVRs are fastish, handle wellish are a bit "in your face" , built like a kit car, (cause that is what they are) and are relatively cheap, that's why we have 'em.

Small rant over due to being off with a D&V bug and my TVR P/S steering rack having play at 40K FFS furious

Please Porsche knockers, this isn't the time or place.......................this is my post, it'll wear off in a day or two smile

Not serious, I've spent a small fortune to get beastie where she is, future expenditure from the car fund will be body off and making her pristine... because she's worth it smile

That said, ITB's would be the clowning glory for a high spec N/A lump, and would finally end the quest for greater power... and look the dogs danglies smile

If I could get 1200 quid for my triple with bespoke airbox and big bore motorsport inlet hose it would ease the pain of the 3k for the JE ITB set-up scratchchin My inlet manifold has also been ported etc so is probably worth a few quid too smile

I was thinking maybe the The 887 HP Porsche 918 Spyder, Will Get '85 To 94' MPG
,now that`s what i call a car .cool

As phazed said, I would expect anything over 48 mm to have a huge flat spot in the mid range...Talk to J.E. he's done a shed load of development on TB's if you are serious about this route.

Doubt it would cause a flat spot just dont think the RV8 could exploit the TB increase, if your really going for it the EFI inlet manifold needs to get the boot frown

I saw a guy in a Griffith a few years back at Cadwell with that setup .I think he junked it for a supercharger .

maybe he was not that impressed .

You have a lovely car with loads of power and more importantly it runs well ,that`s got to be more important than a tiny bit more power .

Here's Ian's graph, (RoseyTVR)

As nice as it is, is it worth you spending that much more over what you've spent already?
His is a 5.2 or 5.3 iirc.

Peter is right, just save your money and spend it on fuel.

I am not sure he is right on wanting a covetable 911 with an auto box instead of his Chim..... a GT3 maybe.
