Well that happened just after Xmas, and I got it back from those top blokes at Austec this afternoon, after what they described as their most challenging TVR electrical problem ever. Basically it was an intermittent short that would blow a fuse and imobilise the car. First off, Paul repaired the fuse board, tested everything and I collected the car. Then promptly broke down again, fortunately 300 yds from my office in Croydon. I even got a push to a sidestreet from a couple of policemen who were stopping cars with no tax discs!
Back on the transporter to Austec.
Problem was, being an intermittent fault, it would never appear when they wanted it to, then pop up again just when it all looked OK. Apparently (apologies if my memory of what you told me is poor, Mike) they got a clue from Mark Adams who was there, and found a wiring problem to a Lambda senson, replaced that bit of loom and all OK. But not before trying everything else.
Point is, they were great, never gave up, and ended up treating it as a challenge rather than a money making job. I got charged for a few parts, but only the first bit of labour.
Great to have the car back, and I think I know what keeps all you nutters out there driving these cars: it's the great people involved with them. Thanks again Mike, Paul and crew.
