Just about to pick up my first TVR (1998 4.5 Chim).
Unfortunately I work in Manchester city centre. The dealer who I have bought it off (Christopher Neil in Northwich) have said they will fit a tracker for £290 + £10 per month. Stupid obvious qestion but are Chims easy to nick, and does this seem like a reasonable price? BTW none of the insurance companies I rang gave any discount for having a tracker fitted, miserable gits.

Are they easy to nick? - yes if you're a professional, no if you're an average joyrider. Hard to sell in this country without a full history etc, so the pros are unlikely to touch 'em.
If a joyrider does manage to nick it, you can be sure that they'll crash it within a few miles.
Seems an average price for a tracker, but probably not worth doing on a Chimaera. Most of the insurance cost will be the risk of you stuffing it

cheers,
Craig

When I was last ringing round for insurance, some insurers wanted trackers and some not. I did push the point with one broker and theft is apparently a very small fraction of claims. I've not seen many Tivs with trackers, although I stand to be corrected here.

Cheers,

Steve

Mine had tracker fitted when I bought it secondhand but I decided not to spend the 100 odd pounds on the transfer. Chimaeras are easy to get into but alot more difficult to take away.

I'll keep my eyes open for you in Manchester, what colour?

Don't think I'll bother with the tracker then.
Mine's a Rosso Red Pearl 450 with Gold badges, maybe see ya around?

I agree, mine had a Tracker fitted, but no insurance company was interested, so I've not bothered to renew it. Would be different if one had £80k worth of Porkie as my mate has, as it can be nicked and be away in a container to some far off shores without blinking!!
