...so what else do I need to think about to get the 4 pot e38 Brembos on the front of the Chim?

I have the four pot Brembos already, there's 'oldphonebloke' on eBay with the brackets, bolts and spacers as a kit, he also does the Focus RS discs and e38 pads.

Alex reckons 15mm hub centric spacers (still have to locate those)...

'opb' reckons that the Brembos won't fit under 16's but seems that enough people have on here so not worried about that.

Anyone remember offhand what size the hub bolt holes had to be drilled out to to fit the 888/887 callipers? Was it 10mm or 12mm?

Do the original brake pipes reach/fit the Brembo callipers?

How do I restrict the steering travel if the tyres hit the bodywork on lock?

What size tyres do I need on the front to maintain overall diameter? (She's already nose-high even with the front spring platforms wound all the way down and the rears all the way up.)

At least I now have a second car that I bought to tide me over while she's off the road with the buggered block so I guess I can get away with not doing it all in one sitting... biggrin

confused

I didn't need to drill out any holes for my cossie calipers, I've heard a few people say that you do but can't figure out where the size discrepancy is? Ebay for the spacers, mteconline are normally the best price for spacers and studs together although I think demon tweeks has an offer on if you're quick.

Originally mine had the 240mm front discs and whatever callipers went with those - to fit the carriers for the 888/887 callipers it was necessary to drill out the two threaded calliper mounting holes in the front hubs as the 888/887 carriers had larger bolts.

Then, instead of the calliper carrier mounting bolt bolting into a tapped hole in the hub you bolt through both the carrier and the hub and use a locknut ...

I just can't remember the size that the hub holes had to be drilled out to to check whether they're the same size as they are on oldphonebloke's brackets. smile

I'll take a look at those places for spacers though - thanks! smile

I had to drill out mine for the larger bolts.
When are you fitting them? I might have some 15mm spacers, I bought a few different sets trying to get the Azevs to fit, I can check later, they might be 16mm.

Cool ... so they probably are the correct size already then ...

That'd be good if you do have ... I'm not in a huge rush - have had the callipers for six months or so and haven't got round to sorting them til now and still need to get the engine rebuilt! biggrin

Well, all of it has red thread lock on so I know it's not coming loose any time soon

So you didn't need any additional spacers between the calliper and carrier bracket or between the carrier bracket and hub?

In that case I would probably just go for the brackets from oldphonebloke and source my own fixings as his 'kit' includes some spacers that hopefully aren't necessary...

Do you remember how long the bracket to hub bolts are? (So that I can order some up?)

Depending which model Ford the 887/888s carriers were sourced from dictated whether larger holes were required. Some had (for the sake of arquement) M10 holes, others had larger holes.

Mine bolted straight onto the hubs (S3C) without the need for drilling. Not sure what model they were sourced from as I bought it as a complete kit including rear disc conversion.

Thinking about it i did use some thin washers between the callipers and hub so that the callipers were centralised over the disc.
just some thin m12 washers if i remember rightly
