Is that what happens when you watch the wrong motoring programme?
At least it gives you a chance to put the longer ratio (0.63?) 5th gear in while you are at it.
Nice quieter motorway cruising.
And top speed will go up from 165 mph to 209 mph if the wind resistance will let it (and your balls don't go looking for a hiding place)

0.63 Gear?
Very interested in that. Cant see anything on ebay. Any links please?
Sorry to see the state of the OP's gearbox!
I was talking to someone about motorway driving recently, and what a drag the noise of 3000 rpm in 5th was, but said I liked the ratios generally. He said that one could always fit a longer 5th gear, and said the standard was 0.8, but there was a 0.63 available. I think he said (whoever "he" was) that you could find it on the website of whoever had taken over the manufacture of the Borg Warner gearboxes....Tremec?

have the 0.63 in the car but only would suggest it if you do long trips on the motorway to keep revs and noise down. can´t find the old emails of 2011 but if i am not wrong it had been coming from an old mustang or camaro....gacksen said:

How much does it lower the RPM on the motorway ?0.63 is too long. It's like changing from 3rd to 5th as if your missing a gear and not a pleasant drive IMHO. If you want better cruise change the diff'.
Baz, do you want the same to happen again? Dig in and change to a TKO600 as the T5 is on borrowed time with your power. Also IMHO.

[ask myself, why hippy smiley after every post? fact is fact]

If you are doing over 120mph when you change in to fith who cares how fast it is going to accelerate from that point .
Fith as always been a cruising gear .

If you look at the page I linked on the Tremec website (they are the people who now make the T5 gearbox), they state that it will handle up to 300 lb ft of talk.

Remember there are 2 types of T5 ours being the WC. T5 is strong enough for all your N/A girlies. Only when you come to the dark side will you need to upgrade.
