I run wider than standard tyres.

If it's dry and I have my Triple 8 set on for track then I believe the grip is better than standard.

I also run a wider set of R1Rs on the road and the grip is confidant inspiring to say the least.

Widths are 265/235 for track and 255/235 for road.

I'm not sure what the % increase in width/contact patch but I'm sure that there is someone who knows.........shout

O/T a bit...

With most of the list 1B tyres starred in this years MSA rule book, it'll be interesting to see what happens to tyre prices towards the end of the season as at it stands at the moment they will be ineligable for many road going championships next year.

So what will you be looking at next year?

At this stage I really don't know. My argument for list 1B is on the grounds of safety, but the MSA has just in effect put a blanket competition ban on all these tyres for next year. It's down to tyre efficiency (fuel/noise) classification which wierdly takes precedent over grip(don't want to start an argument but my list1Bs are consistantly grippier than 1As in 95% of conditions).

Might take a year out & let the dust settle.....

So, assuming your widths above are Rear/Front, you decrease the rear width but not the front for the road then. But you run wider than standard 245/225.

Correct.

8x17s all round for road.

8x 17 front and 9x18 rears for track.

Doesn't switching from 17 to 18 rears throw the geo out or are the tyres on the 18's a lower profile? Damn, should've checked previous posts regarding tyre sizes before posting....

18s are a taller tyre do that's what I had on when the geo was set up.

With 17s all round it looks flat, (or flatter).
