Excellent. I was thinking of something very similar myself, but was wondering what pipe to use. Is this 15mm stainless? Is it Tigged or Migged?

Not bad for mig welding. Looks decent fusion onto parent metal. It can be tricky welding dissimilar metals stainless and mild steel by the looks of those fittings?

Why all the hardware? I just bent the 15mm (in stainless - with a decent mandrel bender) and put a bead on the end to aid hose retention - it's never moved.

Like the other end (into the back of the sensor block especially) - very neat

Could you not have used stainless hose tails as well on the pipes?

The only dissimilar material is the brass hose tails its all stainless and the motor is in at last ignore the rocker cover placment they have got to come back off again and are just to keep debri out ................................................... My shop needs tidying up badly this project as created mayhem .

All stainless fittings a very professional job anything less and you would not be happy. Someone mentioned a bean of weld on the pipe to aid hose retention really???

Thanks Portzi I did a weld bead at the other end not great but enough to stop the hose sliding off all though unlikely

Gary I owe you a thank you too for the Oyster dimpling pliers worked text book on the SS pipe for the hose never even knew such a simple tool existed still got PAS res & brackets hoses to go on over this lot and just waiting for some silicone bends and I can crack on

Pliers are a good idea. Was it easy to crimp the SS pipe? Is that that to prevent the hose from coming off?

Out of interest, what PSI does the coolant system work at? Just wondering if compression fittings would also work?

In order yes easy to crimp the thin wall stainless it is to stop hoses slipping especially silicone IMO, cooling system runs at about 5-7 psi approx ta operating temp, cap opens about 15 to let off excess pressure from over pressurizing for whatever reason i.e overheating

The Oyster pliers are great - have even managed to get a decent impression on 1mm walled stainless bends I used for the bigger runs of the cooling system. Got some good blisters from squeezing on them mind!

Can see considerable scope for neatening things on mine by nicking a couple of these ideas
