Have had some rough running problems with my 4.0HC and have cleaned the stepper motor before, but I have just read a thread regarding this topic and it mentioned the piston in the stepper motor being stuck. Is the cone shape on the end of the stepper motor meant to move freely when pushed? If so, I have a problem.
Any help would be appreciated although there is no rush since some monkey pulled out of a side turning and smashed my front and rear wings!!

Rough Running
Lucas SNB802 water temp sensor?
Check Plugs?
check vacuum advance module on side of distributor is fixed on properly
Reseat ECU connections
Make sure all plug cables and the HT lead are seated right
Just to be going on with!!
