Squeaking door catch?

My drivers door squeaks like nobody's business, and I wonder if anyone can give any advice.

My TVR mechanic says the plastic bit in the door catch has worn, and is allowing the door to move slightly, creating the constant squeaking as the car goes over undulations in the road (door strike moving against plastic catch?).

Short of replacing the (apparently hard to source) door catches - does anyone know of a way that I could alleviate the squeak..?

I was thinking maybe lightly greasing the plastic catch or something similar..? Would this work or is it not advised? Any other ideas gents?

Has anyone had the same problem, and if so - how did you sort it?

If your talking about the striker on the door itself im sure ive seen insulation tape wound around mine!
A bit rough but easily replaced when it wears.

No - think the striker (metal square "loop" thing attached to the door) is fine.

It's the striker catch in the door frame - I have been told that the plastic catch (part that moves when the striker hits it to lock the striker in place - easily visible when you look at the door catch) has worn, allowing the striker/door to move about rather than locking it secure & tight, causing a squeak.

Will try the tape idea, but fairly sure its not gonna last long as mine is a daily driver - so hoping for a more permanent solution if I can't find one to buy...

I think anything you put on there will wear in time, you could try plasti dipping but you would need to strip the lock. Rubberised paint may be another option.
