Exhaust Mod

I know lots have already done this but as part of service (as apparently you have to take the exhaust off anyway) I had the box cut open, wadding removed and perforated section sleeved. The difference in sound is amazing!! I'd recommend it to anyone!!

Would there now be any difference in performance with all this free flowing air!?

Yes you might loose some horsepower as the engine actually likes a bit of back pressure....

So the story goes, but if the mod's done correctly any drop in power is negligible (if there's any drop at all); I certainly didn't notice it when I had mine done.

ngt, lots of people on here have had it done with no ill effects - just make sure you get it done by someone that knows what they're doing.

While there's no performance benefit, the sound is amazing and changes the whole character of the car - I certainly havn't looked back.

A far more valid point is that it may hinder your ability to do trackdays due to noise restrictions. Silencers are available but even they may not make you totally compliant...

You're definatly right about it changing the character of the car!! Even if you think you're going faster in your head.. thats not a bad thing cos you wont get so many points.

As for the track days.. Pembrey is around the corner from me but so are the waves for surfing!! No contest sorry!!!

We had ours done at the same time as the Taraka upgrade so hopefully no power drop there.

Did a similar thing to the exhuast on my chim, the power drop theory appears to alter depending on who you talk to and which way the wind is blowing!

The noise is fantastic, I guess the pre cats will be next...after I have put the re conditioned steering UJ's back!
