OK how do you restart the ODO?

Its stuck on 19,999 and a half. I guess "they all do that" right? Why can't TVR get a simple thing like a speedo right. Just a bit cheesed off with the little stuff that seems to accompany TVR ownership. Must get out on the open road and put my foot down to restore feelings of awe and inspiration.

Suggestions welcome....

Mine stuck at 699999 - I tried

reversing fast whilst gently pushing the button, (deserted road...)

pushing the trip button gently/hard at slow/fast speeds

taking the dash off to see I could fix it (I couldn't...)

Just about to book it in, and it started working about 10 days after it had stopped!

I would say keep trying to reset the trip and just keep pressing it as it seems to giggle it free

I just had the common or garden 29,999 version which was solved by starting up again , but TADTS.

There have been other adventurous ways of dealing with it it turns into a serious problem. Try a search for those.

Ours packed up and I tried all the recommended solutions and nothing worked. Left it to see if it would just start on its own acccord but after 2 months decided this wasn't going to work either. So dashboard out (as per the Bible) and gently tap (used a toffee hammer) the bit that stick out of the rear of the clock and it clicked round. Before I puit the dash back went for a gentle run with Mrs FFG holding the dash roughly in place and it started again including the trip. Just ensure all the buttons and lights still work before you re-install. The small green light to show the indicator is on doesn't work but I'm not too bothereed about that.
Whole job about 2.5 hours.

Mine restarted this morning after resetting the trip. Perhaps it was just a bit tired and wanted a rest. Thanks for the advice (again)

<Sigh> Mine's been reading 29999 for the last 700 miles. I don't think it's going to get better by itself.

Dash off time, but is there a way I can wind it on so it registers the mileage I have done?

mine stuck on 33999 yesterday

First thought was, excellent no milage depreciation. 20 miles later burning off a chav warrior in his chav chariot it clicked back into life. Took a red liner in third to do it though

An 'acquaintance' gained promotion however the management refused to upgrade his company car to a better one to which he was now entitled. It was only a couple of thousand miles short so the speedo cable was disconnected, inserted into the chuck of an electric drill and wound on.

Anyone know where's the best place to buy myself a new electric drill?

I find that if you pay it any attention at all it continues to stick.

If you ignore it usually it will start to behave..but it will never be rushed. In the meantime, you cant vent your frustartion by fiddling with the reset button..but thats what it wants you to do!!!

Decided it was time to sort this out, so I went in armed to take the dash off. Realised I was going to have to cut some tape around the air vent to do this, so sat for a minute in contemplation wondering if I really had the guts.

While I was musing, I pushed the trip reset in very firmly, then flicked off my finger quickly, thus letting the button ping out. Did this a couple of times, and the main odo reading shifted so that the 3 came up. Yay! Now it works perfectly.

Of course, now my Chim's got a few (hundred) miles less on the clock than it's really done, but I think I can estimate the mileage to within about 50 from fuel bills.
