Help me get in please.

Hottest day of year and up early to go the long way to work. First key fob no joy and nothing from the second. Lack of flashing light on dash confirmed no juice. Can someone PM me the 'secret way' for me to get in. I have home start but worried Green Flag won't have a clue either.
Frustratingly I have a trickle charger but, with the cigar lighter not working, did not bother with connecting straight to the battery when I've had no issues with leaving it for a couple of weeks before. Should my trickle charger be able to refill battery or is it only good for topping up?

Right then so I am in with ease thanks to my two new friends. Turned the key and nowt as expected.
Popped the bonnet even though I am the least mechanically minded person I think I will know a battery when I spot on. Nope, no battery!
Consult 'The Bible' which I find fascinating but incomprehensible given the aforementioned lack of any knowledge of how cars work.
Did ascertain that battery in passenger footwell - how convenient.
Met with this:
Guessing the battery is the bottom bit but what I do now is beyond me.
Please help!

Is that the battery charger you have connected?
If so that's fine.
If you need to remove the battery because it is buggered you will have to unbolt the box.
There are 213 mil bolts on the underside of the car that need to be removed you can then slide the box forwards.
When you disconnect the battery disconnected the negative cable first.
If the battery charges up and retains its charge don't leave the car for so long. If you do need to leave the car for longer periods you will have to disconnect the battery.
I use an isolator switch which you can have fitted.
If so that's fine.

Thanks guys. My charger says it does a bulk charge from flat so I am giving it a go. After about a minute the whining from the alarm ceased. Charger said it is dispensing juice so I guess it is a case of wait and see.
I must say I am surprised the lengths people go to in order to keep the battery topped up. If you haven't got a cig lighter attachment, or in my case it doesn't work, do people really pull up the carpet each time?!
Just out of interest, not that I'm worried or anything. Ahem. If I had connected it up wrong would it just short the charger's fuse or something?!

Not driven the car for 13 days but a two week gap has not been an issue before. However, fitted a new head unit a little while ago. Could it be that I wired it up wrong? I didn't remove the facia, the Mrs reckons this drains battery even if it's not lit up. True?

I have a fused flylead connected directly to the battery and the plug is in the footwell. All I do is connect the charger and leave it. If you have seen the wiring in the door, you wouldn't trust it to charge the battery! 
And yes, if you have the permanent live and switched live the wrong way around, the head unit will still work but could drain the battery.

Gulp. This will be by far and away the most technical thing I have attempted on a car.I'll have to leave until the weekend which gives plenty of time for the charger to prove the batter is knocked.
