Power steering seals D.I.Y ?

I have a leak on my my power steering were the steering shaft goes in at the top , is this a d.i.y job .There are no other leaks or problems with it . If so can you just get the seal or due you have to buy the whole kit .
Or should i get it refurbed

Yes it can be a DIY job although the rack can be a pig to get out. The seal I bought from a bearing / seal supplier I got two seals(one spare)and a new circlip for 40p,just take the old seal along they will measure it and supply the new one.

To did this job properly you need to remove the pinion assembly from the steering rack housing and change both seals there is another inside, just prising the outer seal from the outside there is a good chance you could slip and damage the pinion shafts seal face, this would be a major problem.

Thank's for the advice,it's not leaking very much will have to look up some local companies , if it doesn't get any worse will wait till the end of the summer
