Best current batteries on market please

I appear to need a new battery so what is the best one currently out there ?

Car is a '97 450 with no engine mods.

If its a stock lead acid type your after I would go with Varta or Exide 5 year or Bosch S4/S5 I use an 096 AGM battery because of its reserve power and it was cheap the owner purchased it and never fitted it so I got it for shirt buttons

Stuck a new one in mine about four months ago, it's either the standard or calcium, can't remember which, but I often leave the car for weeks at a time with no charger but it still turns over like a whirling dervish....

Old battery had had a pretty hard life, but even as it came to the end of its days, I discovered it was an on the way out starter motor that was causing the really slow cranking and putting extra drain on the battery....

Following the title of your post to the letter, if it's the best battery on the market you want, that will be the Odyssey PC1500.

Its a proper grunty endurance battery with 760 CCA & 70AH..

I fitted one to my mate's five litre Chimaera and it just slipped in the stupid TVR battery box, a stop start battery is designed to take a lot of punishment, my mate only uses his car infrequently and with the help of a "Battery Brain" can start it after a 6 months lay up without the aid of a trickle charger because there's no mains power in his council lockup.

Keep in mind you don't really need the fiberglass battery box, in fact in my opinion you are better off deleting it altogether. But you still must secure the battery well for safety & officially to pass the MoT.

Fit two hook bolts to the floor with big penny washers to spread the load and a flat rubber bungy strap to secure the battery to them, or in the place of a bungy strap just use an old bicycle inner tube which works perfectly.

I bought a Yuasa one off ebay and fitted it 12 months ago. Cheapest 'name' brand I found for under £50. Not been a problem on my 4.0 litre. Spins fast even after a week or two standing. 'Only' a 2 year guarantee which I admit isn't as long as some others.

I've ordered a Bosch S4 and pick it up 8am tomorrow

I ordered a universal battery tray with my naw battery and did away with that box. Once fitted it is far easier to get to the battery in future.
