Radio Dead

Have recently installed a mod-wise starter motor kit and it seems to be working well. However, my radio has gone completely dead. I'm guessing that this may be due to the battery being disconnected?!?

Any thoughts or advice?

Would not have thought the two would be connected unless you have a coded head unit?

The radio wouldn't be dead just because the battery had been disconnected. Even if it was coded, you would still get some form of illumination.

If the radio was fine and now is dead, chances are you have shorted / fused / dislodged something somewhere.

Obvious things to check:

Have you checked the fuse ? Note that you will have a fuse to check in the fuse box and possibly an in-line unit at the rear of the radio.

What wires could you have dislodged when you were fiddling about ?

Have you pulled the radio out and checked the connectors at the rear of the unit ?

I'm not a beliver in coincidence and the chances of a radio failing completely at the same time as you were working on the car is iffy, to say the least.

Got a multi-meter ?

I did exactly that earlier this afternoon...pulled out the stereo, checked the connectors, checked the fuses. Couldn't identify the problem, but it started working! Can only guess that a connection had loosened.

More than likely a dodgy earth connection.
