Pre cats.

I am just about to have my pre cats removed to increase some depth in the exhaust note and wondered (from another thread) if cones have to be installed to replace any lost back pressure.
Has anyone done this? Will this add loudness also? Will it be too loud having the box inners removed and pipes through as well?

i changed mine to act manifolds with precats removed and non reversal cones. the job is a pain to do but can be done! exhaust note doesent change that much though but if anything i did notice a crisper throttle response at low revs
