early Speedo White face - anyone got one ?

Hi All,
I did post a request under the 'has anyone got' thread but given the number of pages of posts it may have got lost. I'm just wondering / hoping that someone , somewhere may have an early type speedo (white face with black bezel) lurking in their garage ? Trying to obtain one from the TVR breakers has become very painful and I have been let down quite a few times when I thought I'd got hold of one.
It's a bit un-nerving having a spirited drive without a speedo. I've done the use the sat nav thing but it takes away the clear road view in front of you down the country lanes if it is placed where I can see it easily.
On another note : are the dial faces interchangeable on the early dials ? If I found a black one could I then replace the face with my white one ?

Is the speedo definitely broken? Thanks for the replies guys.
I think it is the speedo as the mileage counter still works just not the road speed. I believe that this points to the gauge. Also (I'm not sure if I am right here) I've read that there is a signal from the sender to the ECU to control engine speed when car comes to a halt ?
Is TVR Dean the same outfit as TVR Glen in Northumberland ? If so I have tried him and well....

It's not the price of the speedo as I thought it was not unreasonable, a bit steep, but it is his way of making money so fin with that. It was the disappointment of being told that there was one in stock, paying for it, me then chasing to then be told he did not have one after all.
I think a repair is a way forward over the winter, but was hoping for a replacement that I could swap over pretty quickly now and then send off the old one for repair.
