Audible turn signal
Discussion
One of these days someone is going to pull out in front of me
because I'm unaware that the indicators are on
I've had a look at this:

but I'm wondering if it's easier just to replace the existing sounder with a louder one.
It should be easier than hacking into the existing wiring
Has anyone come up with an easier solution?

I fitted one of these to my old cobra replica and could hear it ok, should be easy to tap into the warning lamps on the dash.

I put the Maplin buzzers behind the speakers in the rear shelf. Unfortunately we Griff owners don't have the luxury of just popping the dash top off so it was an easier alternative than pulling out the entire dash and risk cracking the veneer.
Simple to do by just splicing into the rear indicator wiring and running a bit of bellwire up behind the speaker and mounting the buzzer there.
I have one attached to each circuit and behind each speaker.
It works brilliantly most of the time but when then car is fully loaded with camping gear for Le Mans you can't hear them.

Simpler to buy two pizo buzzers (as above) and wire them in parallel with the indicator lights on the dash. Made particularly easy since these lights are not soldered but screw-connected. Bit of double sided sticky-back plastic to attach to the back of the dash and job done before the kettles's boiled.
The buzzers then sit right in front of you, about 3 feet away, depending on arm length. For me, less than three feet but I'm not sizeist - can also be used with arms of any length.
I had this for a couple of years until I carbon-fibred the dash and forgot to put them back. Works well, if a little loud at slow speeds.

Why not fix the indicator stalk so that it turns off automatically once you've gone round a corner?
..... then you'll only need a buzzer for when you indicate to overtake and forget to cancel
Anyone clever enough with electronic things to make a gizzmo that would make a nice loud "click clock" like a proper flasher unit rather than just a basic buzzer going on and off?

Or.... you could always pay attention to that flashing green light on the dashboard.....

I had the same problem on my S1.
I tapped into the normal "invisible" (on the S1) instrument indicator lamp circuit and fitted two "beepers". I also fitted two green LED's to the top of the control lever cover.
You need to fit two beepers because they are voltage polarity sensitive and only bleep if connected the right way around.
Because on the S there is only one warning light on the instrument panel common to both indicators the voltage reverses dependant on which right or left indicator is operating.
They are a bit on the loud side when sat idling at traffic lights! but clearly audible even when the loud pedal is pressed.

There's a relay (I think) that comes with tow hitch wiring. I haven't a clue what it is, but when I have my horse trailer connected to the car/4x4 and turn the indicators on, I hear a loud warning coming from the rear which reminds me I have 2.5 tonnes and 20 feet of trailer behind me. However, the way it is wired it only sounds when the trailer is attached.
Sadly I don't have a tow bar on the Chimaera, or I could tow the horse trailer with that - after all, it is only a Range Rover with better aerodynamics.
