I have the kit supplied by Hans Daal the dutch fella on here, nice bloke. No machining necessary and came with new wheel bearings all round. Not difficult, just remember opposing rear wheels have different handed threads when you come to strip down.

Didn't fit mine but if you do fit a set, you could fit some lovely genuine tiv RL7s.

Tuscan brakes.

:big laugh: those are the ones,, "Oh baby" those are the ones,,,,, smile

Still locked em up and had to change the track layout to get around biglaugh

So can I just get some hubs off a Tuscan or so and just bolt them on?
That's the ultimate brake solution,, bigger choice of discs etc !

I'm just floating ideas about?

I'm likely to try a pair of hi spec 4 pot fronts off another pistonheader first and see how they feel.

5 stud is the future! laugh

Ive done the conversion using Granada Mk3 hubs.

Straight swap with original 4 stud hub

Fitted brembo 4 pots with 324mm discs
new granada vented 273mm discs on the rear

These are the only pics i have

Interesting.

I haven't changed from 4 to 5 stud, but have 324mm Focus RS front disks and Bremsport callipers, and 273mm (which is the standard size) rears.
IMHO, and correct me if I am wrong, you don't need 5 stud hubs to have bigger brakes, but you do need 5 stud hubs for a much better choice of 8J/8.5J/9J wheels in 17 inch.

All this talk of brakes is, I think, misleading Alun into thinking he needs to do the 5 stud conversion to have bigger brakes.

How much is the 5 stud conversion, by the way?

Thankyou for your concern Anthony,,,,Tuscan brakes,,,,that's worth changing hubs for,
I don't feel the need for 5 stud but moving forward you have more choices.

Richard,, I know you have had issues with your brakes,,
I'm at Cadwell park as I speak so can't get a decent signal,

I'll contact you Richard.

Can the previous posters please confirm that Tuscan brakes actually require a change from 4 to 5 stud hubs, please?

AL

Stop pissing about and just chuck the brembo's on

5 stud isn't cheap, 4 bearings, 4 discs, 4 wheels, 4 tyres, hubs what's that a easy £1500-2k minimum imo

Chuck brembo's on and sticky tyres

Had my 5 stud conversion including new wheel bearings and set of brand new spider wheels for £1k wink
Also, you don't have to change to 5 stud for brake upgrade, here's mine pre 5 stud using Focus RS discs. When I changed to 5 stud [for spider upgrade] I simply re-drilled the discs. Brake upgrade was my own using Cerbera calipers from a scapper [£300 inc' new seals]

Ok Alex, I get the picture, laugh

Mac, that was a great deal you got there.

I'm still waiting on the costs regards other work on the car so I'll wait until I know that before I make any decisions, thanks for the information chaps.
