Choice of Oil?

Only had my Chim just over a month and am needing to pop some oil in it now, i've heard the one to go for is Mobil 1 Motorsport 15-40 but can I find it in any garages, motorshops even ventured into the skank merchants that are Halfords and they dont have any either.

Is there another oil thats as good / better I could use?

If you're currently running fully synthetic, use any good fully synthetic oil.
BTW - You mustn't mix mineral and synthetic oil.

there have been some very knowledgable people on oil here.

me, I know nothing and just put in more of wot my servicing people put in 15w/40 valvoline, semi synthetic.

RichB (understandably) says on that thread that he thinks that 10/40 "is too thin".

I, though, use Magnatec 10/40 in the car as I live on a fast, main road and I feel this to be the perfect viscosity for (fairly) spirited starts- whilst keeping the revs below 2000- until the engine reaches 50 degrees or so.

I rarely have to top up btw- and the oil is checked twice a week.

Peninsular told me to use 10/40 as my engine is relatively new.

Mobil 1 Motorsport 15-40 - is the only thing taht goes in mine - 0 40 is way to thin for these old engine. Gonna be the same in my LS6.

Always use Mobil 1 Motorsport 15w-50 in mine too. As recommended to me by Fernhursts, and they know more about these V8's than I do!

Should be able to pick it up from Halfords. May cost 5 or 10 quid more than some other oils for a large bottle, but if it keeps your engine in good health then that is a small price to pay.

I use GTX magnatec 15W/40 in mine as I was told the Mobil 1 is too thin.
