rear droplinks
Discussion
Hi all. I've noticed the support brackets on my car have started bending so going to find a way to strengthen these. But are the so called upgraded droplinks from tvr-parts any good? The leven items seem out of stock that I can find anyway. Any experience of other parts greatly appreciated thanks

But I do have stronger springs than standard and adjustable dampers, so can always make my suspension stiffer if I need to.
I have the dampers close to max soft for road use, thanks to the horrendous state of all our roads (except motorways), but for track use I go for a much stiffer set up. So I cannot see that removing the ARB will make much difference on the road. I will see if it makes any difference on track when I try it. I might well take my tools and axle stands to my next track day and remove the ARB over lunch. If I do, I will report back. Next TD is 31/7.

My TVR guy commented that the ends are too far in board for it to be much use. He also mentioned that it wasn't fitted on race cars. We haven't actually removed mine.......yet. But if the drop links get much looser I will try removing it.

The reason why I ask, is that I am about to clean and paint my rear ARB, install new poly bushes, fit new drop links.....But I do have stronger springs than standard and adjustable dampers, so can always make my suspension stiffer if I need to.

So, in all, a bit of cash.....
We need more comments to help both of us decide.
Might even take mine off tomorrow just to see, though I do have rather a lot of other things to do with a computer and an angle grinder (two different jobs, I hasten to add - I am not in the habit of adjusting accounts, even those of engineering companies, with an angle grinder

)I think an anti rollbar is better than non,,, Leven links apparently make a big difference but I've never tried them and now it seems hard to get them anyway!
Wait until the 31st and I'll help take it off Anthony.
You can do a back to back test and just see if you can feel or tell the difference ?

I agree it could be better, but if it's doing nothing, why are the brackets bending?Wait until the 31st and I'll help take it off Anthony.

I can answer that one - if you drive our lovely B roads regularly, unless you raise your ride height there will from time to time be a thump or clang as you ground the rear of the car on an unseen bump in the road. What is hitting the road is the ARB. I have had mine bent back into place several times by my TVR guy wielding a crowbar. That force of the bump in the road is what cracks or bends the bracketsRemove rear ARB, have each end bent inwards by 30mm and fit Mondeo drop links at a fraction of the price.

Is it safe to do so.
I have been thinking long and hard about this..........So, say you go out in your P&J tomorrow and some idiot hits you at a set of traffic lights - not your fault etc....
The damage will be cat 'C' ish - and the insurance company collects your car, does an inspection and finds the ARB missing from the rear......
...."Sorry - we will not pay out as the car is missing a vital competent of the suspension!"(so they say).
.....Then comes the letter - "we will not be paying out your claim as the car is modified..." etc...
I think I will be fitting one on mine.
Nosh
To my knowlage nosh I can't imagine the insurance company going that deep into looking at the car. Even if they had to because of the damage going that far in they'd probably just right it off anyway for it costing too much to repair. They can't be bothered most of the time in my experience.
