Having shredded my drive belt at a charity event yesterday - great fun until it went bang - I now need to replace it.

Not a big job I know but not being a super organised person I have no record of how it fits.

Can anyone help with a diagram - the car has a supercharger fitted which probably complicates things but the standard layout would at least give me a start

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Alex that seems to cover it.

Hopefully TVR Powers will have a suitable drive belt and I can be back functioning tomorrow.

I'm hoping nothing serious has happened as it went at the start of a lap at On Your Marks and I didn't notice till the end of the lap which included the straight at 130mph.

Check the bearing in your tensioner pulley while you're at it.

The bearing is prone to failure.

Thanks Dave

Have now checked and all seems well with the bearing.

Routing seems a little more complicated than the video as I have power steering but I think I have worked it out - tomorrow will tell.

The one in the video has power steering, I know that because it's my video and my car wink

OP's also has a supercharger though so it depends how that and the PS pump have been mounted / moved around but it should be pretty similar...

PS pump stil needs to rotate the same direction as on a non-supercharged Chim so will need to be 'inside' the belt (driven by the v-grooved side) rather than 'outside' the belt (driven by the flat side).

The other important point is that the belt should turn more than 90 degrees over the alternator pulley, not just skim over it, or it can slip, leaving you with a flat battery and no electricity to the coil.

The same rules will apply to the SC it will have a big wrap around to avoid slippage

Hooray!!

New belt fitted and there appears to be no lasting damage - the 2 strands that held on and squealed their way to the end of the lap must have kept things going.

Better news than a friend whose fans failed to switch on and now needs to have his Cobra engine rebuilt.

Thanks to all.

Hi Ken

Just to note that the video posted by Alex is minus the supercharger. This therefore shows the power steering pump in it's original position, whereas in your application (and mine) the pump is relocated to sit below the supercharger. For what it's worth I would always recommend using a Gates belt. I hope you didn't run too long without the belt and I would give your engine a good check over as the serp belt also drives the water pump.

I was at the Asda day myself, helping out on the TVR gate, car not quite ready in time for this year unfortunately!

Hi Richard

Yes, it is a little different but once on the trail it was fairly straight forward.

All does seem well, thankfully.

Interesting to see your power figures best the previous owner got out of mine was around 350hp but he suspected belt slippage which may explain my failure.

I have fitted a slightly smaller belt and now need to get it on a dyno.
