I appreciate the preferred choice of tyre is either SO2/3'S or Toyo proxes but interested to know if anyone has fitted Goodyear Eagle F1'S to the Chimeara - partcullarly the rear as the size of the rears on a Chimeara is the same as that on a Cerbie. Any thoughts or view would be appreciated.

Matt,

I fitted Eagle F1's to my Chim 450 about 15 months and 7,000 mies ago and they have been very good in all conditions, still plenty of life left in them as well.

The only problem I had was that as I fitted the original sizes (205/55/15 on front and 225/50/16 on rear) I had to use an older model for the fronts, GSD2's rather than GSD3's which are on the rear. This seems to make very little difference to the handling.

I use my Chim throughout the year and grip levels always seem to be good in the wet or dry.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Used Eagle F1's on a previous car. Found them to be very good. In my opinion the difference between the SO2/SO3's and Eagle F1's is the behavior towards the limit of traction.
With the Bridgestones the level of grip is high but the breakaway is (relatively) sudden. With the F1's the point at which it starts to breakaway feels earlier- but the breakaway is far more progressive (and in my opinion this is more fun).
Ultimately it is each to his own - some love 'em, some hate 'em. Try them and find out.

I have F1's on my 450, and have found them good in all conditions (well apart from snow!).

Me three, there's not much between them in dry conditions,in the wet the GD3's imo are far superior.

Me 4. Take it easy with GSD 2s when cold, but when warm, brill. Two tracks (Castle Coombe & Oulton Pk)days and they are alive and well and more than 60% tread left. When replaced would use the same again.

Try getting hold of so2 or 3's now anyway. They've stopped making them, I managed to find 2 new one's for the front of mine, but that took some searching.

Cheers all, thanks for the responses appears F1's are a good option, are the GSD3's the latest model?

My last set of S03's came from Bracknell Tyres about 3 months ago.

Don't know if they still stock them.

Maybe worth a call.

Hi Guys,

I was also struggling to get SO3's, and have also been told Bridgestone have stopped making them. So this thread has come along at the right time for me.

Having read your comments I am having some F1 GS D2's (front) fitted this afternoon, what pressures are you all running.

They are 205/55 zr15's.

Cheers in advance

Pressures all cold:

22 to 23 PSI road trim and around 28/30 track days for the fronts to start with - usually reduced a little after 3rd/4th session.

23 to 24 PSI road trim and around 30/32 track days for rear.

ah, interesting.

26 in the back and 24 in the front for everyday use, as advised - but if anyone knows better?

PS followign this thread I looked at my tread depth.

I've lost virtually nothing over the 6 months and 10000 miles on the F1s sonce I've had the car.
