Pulley Bearings Needed

While replacing the alternator (bearings failed) I found that the bearings to the belt tensioner and idle pulley (where the power steering pump would be in later models) were both on the way out too. Nothing serious, just squeaking.

Local TVR dealer is being less than co-operative and showing how they earned the poor reputation they have so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get replacements, preferably at non-TVR prices?

If they are just simple ball race bearings or even needle rollers, provided you can get them out, try these people for replacement bearings.

I've had lots of bearings for many different projects off them in the past.

the tensioner gets affected by the exhaust heat, and aswell as the bearings going the tensioner also loses tension over time. i keep the complete unit in stock for this reason.

they also squeak if the serp belt is fitted wrongly ! ( not by you, obviously ,Joolz ! )

Recently replaced STD rack and ancillaries for power steering. So have tensioner unit available from 1998 450 only done circa 23000k when removed. If you need one make me an offer?

Just up the A1 in Stamford.

Thanks Sparky. Managed to identify the bearing and ordered one but pressing the old one out of the pulley was deemed too risky on the grounds that if I nurgled it I'd be grounded.

Might try it once I've got s4cjo's one fitted then I'll have a spare. Might as well, I'm stuck with a bearing I don't need.
