Lupo lights

After being sick and tired of terrible lights I took the plunge and purchased a pair of Genuine new Valeo Lupo headlights .

Everything is aligned but I can`t understand why the beam is patchy .I went out in the car last night ,the lights are terrible .


I`m bloody sick and tired of spending money !

Advice please .

Sounds like you were expecting a projector style headlight

I think the Lupo GTI's were what you wanted

I just wanted a light to see the road . What causes the patches of light ?

I have projector lights on my Saab. Daz's description fits them perfectly.
I have found that better bulbs in my standard Chimaera lights has made them adequate.

I really think some of you guys who complain about the standard lights need to get your eyes tested.
They are not that bad. Have you driven a modern car when the headlights get slightly dirty? You cannot see a bloody thing!!
Yes I know they could be better, but sometimes the more modern lights are not the answer!

I'm with Bill on this one...

From reading so many threads about poor light I guess they must all differ as I can't see what all the fuss is about.

My lighting up of the road from my standard set up seem's perfectly acceptable to me and my eyes are hardly owl like.

Could I suggest people just settle for what these cars are? Trying to keep up with modern standards with a 20'odd year old design is just unnecessary. They are classics of their time.

I have Lupos fitted and I don't have this problem.
Didn't fit them myself though, so answers to technical questions will be necessarily vague...

They may not be aligned correctly Daz.

Arrange with a friendly garage for them to test the beam with their MOT alignment thingy, that should sort you out.

Mine were good but a bugger to get just right.

The standard lights are fine, particularly when fitted with better bulbs (NOT higher wattage, you risk melting the wiring).
However, when the reflectors become corroded the light becomes inadequate

Well just as an example my reflectors are A1 (changed about 7 years ago along with the bulbs) with some kind of white light Bosch bulbs and they have always been fine at night even in rural areas where it spends most off its life I just dont get it stock output is fine they are not up to modern cars standards and the only way I would change them is to the lens over the late lamp set up like Phazed and COG and thats only for car vanity they look the dogs oh I dont wear glasses
