Quick driveshaft question.......

Are drive shafts tempered in a way that means that they can only deal with force in one direction?

So if I put the right on the left etc - would it snap as it wasn't manufactured to deal with the other direction that is receiving the force?

If you get my meaning?

It's good practice to keep driveshafts turning in same direction as taken off as they can suffer fatigue especially at circlip grooves and the splines. I usually arrow mine in direction of drive.
