Adjustable pushrods or shims

Getting parts together for the new engine build. What is the general opinion on adjustable pushrods. Seem an easier way for setting the pre load.

Best is roller rockers but not cheap.

2nd best and a lot cheaper are adjustable pushrods.

I`d forget the Shims idea personally.

^^^^ as above. The shims only get you an average over the 8 valves, bit of a compromise.

Thanks for the replies, thought that would be the case. Less grief setting the gap and more accurate. Looks like I am going to have to open an account with Real Steel at this rate. Head studs and exhaust manifold bolts/studs. McCloud twin plate clutch and more.

Who is fitting this because apparently it is not straightforward.

I believe Mac has one of these fitted and there is some machining to do.

Engineer 1949, (John) has fitted a few of these.

Spoke to Mac, it needs about 5ml off the release bearing.

I fitted a new loom with the MS which neatened things up.

I'm only running the wideband sensor.

5ml? Bloke, mine needed nearer 10mm. Best to check when apart it's easy enough to do measuring assembled cutch heights [on flywheels] and take into account any wear in old clutch. You want 'some' play for when new clutch wears.

I'll sort out measurements I took for bearing carrier as a guide though I fitted a TKO600 g/box at the same time. Best to measure yours in comparison to old clutch set up. Give us a bell when you do it and I'll talk you through/send diagrams. It's easy enough.
