Radiator issue

So, the Chim has just passed the MOT (woot!) but the top of the radiator has a leak - 'pppfffffffff!!ing' coming from the top right hand corner - also definitive tell tale signs of leakeage, and very high temps - damn it!

I would rather recore it and save a bit of dosh - any suggestions for companies able to do it?

I like in Milton Keynes, but I suppose it can be sent off if need be.

Just had mine recored by Arrow Radiators in Avonmouth Nr Bristol

Very pleased with result now like new, and transformed the cooling system which was getting a bit compromised when in slow moving traffic

£230.00 plus VAT, delivered Thursday collected Friday

Not a huge help but if you're Cambridge way, Anglia Radiators are a fantastic family run business. Did me a new Tuscan rad for £150+vat..... Really friendly people and went way beyond the call of duty to find me a replacement.

Don't discount a new rad - I've just had one from TVR Parts brand new £270 inc. VAT and delivery (with TVRCC discount).

You could try Andrew at Woburn 4x4 very nice chap and very very helpful. Dont have the number to hand currently but a quick search in tinterweb should find it.

He just fitted new coilovers and re-bushed my Chim and did an outstanding job, even fabricated and fitted heat shields to the upper wishbones as he was concerned about how close to the manifolds they were.

Real attention to detail.

I got a new rad from them a couple of months ago and fitted it solo. Given the price difference I was happier to go with a new rad.

It is going over to Kempston Rads tomorrow.

If they cannot fix it, then I will just get a new one from TVR Parts.

And another gremlin manifested itself before I took the rad out - fuel pump wouldn't prime and although the engine turned over, it would not start!

Oh well!!

Kempston reckon it needs a new core and can't be repaired - want stupid money.

£15 more means a brand new one - now ordered from TVR parts

Did consider a new one myself, as only about £60.00 in it but considered

My car is 94 so sensor in swirl pot not in the rad

The bottom hose connection is turned up, not straight out or to the side

My fans have been modified to twins, and as such the top and bottom rails are tapped to take the fixings.

Knowing the way TVR are, by having a recore I knew it would fit as the side tanks / rails would be unchanged.

It would be very hard to tell the difference between a recored and a new one, it was that good a job

I had a rad rebuilt last year from a Luton rad shop using std td Range Rover internals for £180. If that's of any interest I'll try to dig out the details
