Ecu upgrades

Hi all, sorry I'm sure this has been asked so many times but I cant find what i'm looking for with the search.

so, I see and hear about the ecu upgrades available but What are the benefits to a tornado chip ar having a completely programmable ecu with coil packs instead of dizzy. I guess what i'm saying is it worth going full replacement for just casual road use or is the tornado adequate? can you also tell me the relative costs involved as I search online and get a little confused as to whats on offer. I'm really only looking for better fuel economy and mostly rid the judder. any power gain is just a bonus really. Many thanks in advance.

I would suggest go for a proper remap from Jools, this will be better than a tornado chip. For what you are looking for this will be the easiest option and the cheaper than a ecu swap.

There's a lot of work recently on cracking the 14CUX and understanding the code. With this then comes the altering of the code to improve the mapping. I'm trialling a different chip currently and it runs better with props and bangs programmed in. I've bought another ECU so retain the original. I've also juts bought Rovergauge to assist but to get the best out of it you'll need to do it on a rolling road, so Jools is a good option. Jools will be able to tweak your existing chip based on the rolling road results or you can do as I did and get another ECU so you always have a fall back.

Ive got a few maps out on trial at the moment that put more fuel in to reduce the shunting. The problem is it is likely to make the car fail the high speed idle emissions test as it stops the lambda cycling- so it has to be switchable between the TVR standard map and the "non shunt" map, so you have the best of both worlds. All quite do-able. Problem with the Tornado is its a generic map, and not a patch on getting the car mapped on the rollers, so I would not regard the £400 as money well spent.
