amplifier cables

Just decided to install an amp in my boot. I seem to remember someone saying previously that the cables can be ran down the cavity of the door sill tried this but mine appears to be full of expanding foam. Any ideas ??

Any news would be great, I'm installing a cd changer! Is there an earthing point in the boot?

I insatlled a CD changer in my boot a few years ago and I had to take to earth all the way back to the stereo earth - seemed to be the easiest and safest solution, as this earth point is in a nice warm and dry place in the dash...............

cheers rich tried that method (well similar fibre glass rods etc) still no luck steve regarding earth in boot i fitted a changer but err err can't remember what i did i'm sure it was nowt special possibly hooked up to head unit

The head unit end is fine, simply attach bullet connector to accesory live on changer cable and connect to free wire on ISO block (for this purpose), then plug in to head unit.

The other end has a connector for the changer and a single black wire, i.e. earth. I was hoping I wouldn't have to feed it all the way back and that there would be an earth near the tank. I'm new to this so it hadn't sunk in that I was working on a TVR.

You can earth to the fuel tank, as this is what the mod-wise aerial amp does. Seems to work (presumably a fuel tank must always be earthed for safety reasons).

You can take an earth from any bolt on the chassis, easier than running a cable. Mine is from the bolt that the fuel pump uses, clean it up a bit and smear a bit of grease to prevent corossion.

yes yes all well and good don't want to seem rude or cheeky but anyone ran 4 AWG battery to boot

I've found the best place to earth is seatbelt mount.
