Power Steering Pump

Hi All,

Just had my steering rack refurbed and apparently there was a load of damaged caused by the pump eating itself.

So, is there a variation in quality - where would you go to buy one that's going to be reliable?

Is it a standard LandRover part?

Standard Land Rover part? Yes and if things have got this bad I would recommend changing the reservoir too as this as an internal non serviceable filter/strainer the brand your after is ZF for the pump and bottle, there are probably good replacement/pattern pump brands but you will be best to ask around on quality/reliability you dont want to go down this road again I would enquire with the many TVR specialists 1st

Just sorted the power steering on mine which has never felt right since I got it just over a year ago (ie basically doing nothing). I bought a ZF range rover pump from eBay for £20 which seems to work fine although the biggest difference was probably changing the browny coloured fluid for some new 'cherry-aid' - I don't think changing ps fluid was a standard service item and would guess mine was original from 16 years ago...seems to work fine now anyway....

....I'm not sure there was actually anything wrong with my old pump but decided that for £20 I may as well swap it for a 'working' one...wasn't too hard to do....
