Oil light (dimly) on but oil pressure normal

Out driving, parked up and heard a gurgling sound when engine was switched off. Like air was in the system.
Didn't think much of it, started engine and after a mile the water temp went up very high with oil light on though .
Pulled up topped up water (that was low), checked oil (level ok) and started her up to get home.
Water temp returned to normal but the oil light still flickering but pressure a healthy 50 psi.
Would high water temperature affect oil light?
