Priming the Oil Pump

Afternoon All,
I'm thinking that I would like to carry out the oil change on the Chimp myself. I do it regularly on other cars and used to quite happily do it on my old Triumph TR's. Only issue for me is that having read the 'bible' I am now scared Sh*tl*ss that I will get 0 oil pressure through the inability to prime the pump.
1. Is this a high risk ?
2. The filling up the filter with clean oil and getting on as quickly as possible technique seems that it could be hit and miss.
3. I like the idea of packing the pump with petroleum jelly. Question is how easy is it to do this and really I mean access as opposed to taking off cover and filling with gunk. Also is this fail safe or could I still be left with zero pressure with head in hands

I have never had a problem, I think the issue is mainly with the Pre-Serp engine.
Never raise the front of the car higher in the front than the height of a normal ramp. Then follow the below method in that order.
RV8 ENGINE OIL CHANGE
1.) DRAIN ENGINE OIL AND REFIll
2.) REMOVE OLD OIL FILTER AND REPLACE WITH AN OIL FILTER ALREADY FILLED WITH OIL
