Spare wheel size?

The sidewall on mine says
T125/70/D15 95M
The standard front tyre is a 205/55/15. Rolling diameter therefore = 205 mm x 55% x 2, plus 15 x 25.4mm, = 606mmT125/70/D15 95M
The spare is 125/70/15. Rolling diameter therefore = 125 x 70% x 2, plus 15 x 25.4mm, = 556mm.
So the diameter of the spare is 50mm smaller than the front wheel, ie 2 inches (and 3 inches smaller than the rear). I will check this tomorrow for real. And take photos.
What it means, especially with a limited slip diff, is that you can use it, but for as little mileage as possible.

Can anyone tell me what size the original Chimaera/Griffith space saver spare wheel is. Am I right in thinking it's a 15" wheel/tyre?
Why,are you looking for one?GasDoc said:

I have a spacesaver to fit in th boot of my car as it never had one from the factory.
A fiesta space saver will do the job if you don't mind the much heavier steel wheel. I was fortunate to ge t an original alloy and had the tyre fitted to it.
A new tyre of the correct size is about £60 or so.
I agree that it would not be wise to drive too far on the spacesaver but after helping a friend recently with a Fiat Punto and the supplied tyre inflation pump it is much more preferable. In her case there was a damaged tyre wall that no amount of tyreweld would ever have cured!
Regards Chris.

I found a family with young kids 5pm one Friday, on the hard shoulder of a heaving M11, clearly having a problem with the Civic spare. It turned out to be the wrong size stud pattern.
By luck my Audi A8 wheel was the same stud pattern as the Civic, and fitted, if a bit big for the car.....then we discovered it had about 10psi in it. However, under all the holiday crap in the boot (yes, they were returning from a continental touring holiday and were knackered), he had a fag lighter compressor, got it pumped up and off they went.
So now I carry an RAC card in the TVR, as I am not keen on the space saver, and a jump starter/compressor in every car I drive in.
Remember the obvious, guys - if you carry the space saver, make sure you keep it inflated to 60 psi, and carry a suitable jack and wheel brace with you.
Try the tools in the boot at home, as so many are useless at the side of the road.
