INFO ON THE "MA" CHIP

Hi, has anyone got the mark Adams chip fitted. I am thinking of fitting it to my 400V8S but what difference have people felt in the performance. I was going to fit it my self (without the rolling road). what are your thoughts.

Don't really see how you can fit it without a RR session really as all cars are a bit different and it will just give a "standard" set of output signals to the ECU. Without actually mapping it I would guess it would be little better than the standard chip it replaces..

Quiet a few have the full RR treatment with the MA chip and to be honest I think it needs it. Every engine is different even ones with the same or similar build specifications.
I think the approximated chip is viable if you are in another country or something, but if you can get to a RR then I would IMHO.
Mine is a little away from standard so I think I'll wait for someone like UKbob or pies to post the affects on a standard car .

just re-read the original post, are you saying its for a V8S or a 400 (chim) as this is the chimp forum.
If it is for the V8S I'm sure some kindly moderator will shift the thread over to the S series forum for you.

I had an MA chiup in my standard V8S (yes, it *was* standard once), apparently it improved peak torque and power figures a little but not enough to be obvious, but the very obvious difference was in the tractability. The part throttle manners and throttle response improved dramatically.

Mine was set up for my specific car. Given the variation between engines, I think this is sensible. But I expect Mark does have a generic map for a 'standard' car if you prefer not to put yours on the rollers.

If you get just the chip you're pay approx half the money for less than half of the benefits. The real benefit of the chip is a setup specific to your car.

I thought this was the best forum to get the info (i do have a 500 chim as well but this is my "track car"). The problem is I live in Ireland and I would only let MA set it up so i was hopeing to put in in my self and at a later stage take it over to MA but dont know wether it is worth it or to wait. Can you feel any road difference or just track difference.

I have a 500 also, but had a fair few additional changes on top of the MA chip. The difference for me is very obvious. The car used to be pretty breathless above 5k rpm, now it pulls through to 6 and feels like it would go beyond although I don't take it there. It is also has more responsive midrange than it used to. It's a bit less predictable whether you'd see benefit without Mark mapping it. I think your best option is to buy the chip from Mark when you propose to get it set up for your car.
