Brands Hatch this Friday

A bit short notice but I have just booked and there are still spaces, It's run by Open track £129 including tuition, drinks and snacks, the weather forecast is dry a little pre Christmas treat

If your going and the weather stays dry I'd like to pop down for the pits banter,,, I've never been round Brands so a passenger ride or two would be very nice,, is it the Indy circuit,, bit Mickey Mouse for Peters car,,

I love the indi circuit, short but complex with big elevation changes.

Brands about 7, maybe 8 years ago.

I slid down Graham Hill, fully locked up, at 90 degrees to the track, at 25 mph. Ooh Matron!! Called it a day.
Learnt a lesson - take a set of wet weather tyres to a winter track day. It was a day for the Rainsport 3s.

Brands Hatch last December - My only track day in the current car and so slippery! That never ending bend that joins the short straight to the main straight, with no grip and big understeer on the front, just about balanced with oversteer from the rears! Then Paddock Bend!!!

I know you all had a torrid time last year but this year I have spoken to the weather god's and all will be fine.

I have just been reminded that I am picking number two son up from Gatwick airport on Thursday afternoon after being away for three months.

I will leave it to the last moment to see if I am needed on Friday.

Worst way, whether permitting I could slip in half a day.

Did brands this year as part of help for heroes from Headley court so lucky enough got the chim on for free , seeing lotus Elise's still trading punches with 911's its very refreshing to see a great circuit.

We were unlucky.
It was dry the previous day. It started to rain as we drove to the circuit, and it never stopped, a steady, cold, persistent drizzle. We were all, bar one Cerbera on his first track day, on dry weather track tyres.
The previous week somebody dumped the entire contents of his sump around the entire track. MSV did the only thing they could - they scrubbed the whole track, removing the entire season's laid down rubber.
The Cerbera was fine and has been on more track days since. For the rest of us it was impossible to drive on the track. I managed about 5 laps, and every lap at Clark Curve/Clearways the car slid sideways towards the gravel trap, at 40 mph.....

I now take my car to track days on a trailer, for two reasons - I can take spare sets of wheels and tyres with me, as well as more tools, and if I have a crash or breakdown I can get the car home. So next time I hit a wet day I will have a choice. I may even buy some racing wets. But my instinct is still to stay in the clubhouse and avoid being part of someone else's accident, never mind my own.

Its the only sensible thing to do but sliding about is where it's at,,, you learn more but when it's the old pride a joy it makes no sense to take such risks.

Well I was the fastest TVR at Brands yesterday, my first time there and I will definitely be going back soon, it was quite busy but other drivers assured me that it's not normally that bad.
There is a track day there on the 22nd of February £139 open track again if anyone is interested.
I had a slight hicup on the way home the old girl developed a terminal misfire and we ended up finishing the journey on the back of a lorry,still didn't take the smile of my face though.
