I own a 4.6 Chimaera,,,Dom at Powers Performance dug out my original engine build sheet from way back in Oct 1999,,,
This confirms that the late 4.6 engines or mine at least WAS fitted with 500 valves and ported heads,,,
The Plenum was off the car today so I measured the metal but flared trumpets 38mm as I already knew ,,,
So my 4.6 is producing good power figures yet has a pretty standard induction setup,,, just shows you how important the heads are !
Now valve sizes have increased again since those days but that at least helps explain why my car feels pretty quick.
I'd always thought the 4.6 had smaller valves thumbup

I never had any doubt you didnt have the bigger valves and throats or better heads with those numbers Alun, I dont care what ECU you have there is only so much fuel and ignition advance an ECU can muster to max out an engine wink you have a nine motor Alun thumbup

It's been confusing me as Anthony's car has very similar numbers yet his is a good 500
I've read a few things and thought the 4.6 heads had the same valve size as the 4.0
Dom re Built the heads with new springs and steel rockers and re lapped valves when re building it for me a few years ago too so as it had already been worked back in the day and given the bigger valves and ported as part of the original spec it starts to make sense, the induction roar has always had me wondering how it's doing it,, biggrin

I'm going to go see Anthony so we can have some back to back tests with our cars,,
I still think his will feel faster,, not by much but the torque advantage is always there,,,

Regardless of that yes Simon I've got this deep feeling of warmth, excitement and satisfaction that my engines where it should be,,, I'm running a standard Cat and it's still well up there,,,
By my reckoning de cat should give me upto 310-15 Bhp and that's with 38 mm trumpets and 65 mm throttle body,,,
From a 4.6 with a fairly easy cam in it Kent 885,,,,
It's sinking in at last,,,it's a little beauty,I looked at all the other Tvr's in at Doms today,,,, my cars really coming on,,, for a kid with no loot, I'm doing ok with the car,,, I just have to stay the fk away from race tracks,, haha
A moron switch gets flicked,,, I can't control it,,, all or fk all,,, it's not clever and I can't afford to trash this car anymore,,,
That's why I'm at Silverstone on Friday biglaugh
