Look who's been checking my profile out on LinkedIn..
For those that don't know this is the face of....
Lee Williams
Director of Digital Revenues,
Haymarket Media / Executive Director - Pistonheads
My recent episode has clearly provoked him to do some research of my LinkedIn profile, don't think I don't notice these things Mr Williams
Amusingly all Lee would have discovered is I've been selling stationery for the last 18 years and have zero connection with the TVR trade, further evidence a certain moderator's claims I financially benefit from my posts here are completely without foundation.
I'm still waiting for my apology for that one by the way

To be honest I'm flattered the Executive Director of Pistonheads has taken the time to scope me out himself, you'd think he'd have people to do this sort of thing for him?
In fact given the volunteer moderator model he likes so much, I'd have thought he'd have a team of unpaid servants to do his sneaky research for him.
I am a little surprised though that he used such crude and clandestine method, I would have expected something more sophisticated from someone who claims to hold the post of Director of Digital Revenues.
We leave digital fingerprints wherever we travel on the net, but a man with such claimed qualifications really should try harder to cover his tracks.
Or perhaps there's something more sinister at play here, perhaps Lee wanted me to know he's been scoping me out, perhaps it's a crude threat of some sorts?

I was somewhat concerned by your recent comments regarding the PH mods so indeed did check out your LinkedIn profile. Clear to see that you are a respectable fellow.
There was and is clearly nothing more to be concerned about.
In regard to your concerns around PH, more than happy to meet you to listen and discuss. A good time could be the PistonHeads stand at the upcoming Autosport show or at time more convenient to you. I have PM'd you to organise.

Most revealing of all Lee Williams the Executive Director of Pistonheads has freely & publicly admitted on his own forum that he had indeed been scoping me out on LinkedIn. I can only assume this was to gather evidence to support the false claims made by his moderator that I financially benefit in some way from my posts here.
I can only imagine Lee's disappointment when he discovered I am nothing more threatening than a stationery salesman who merely enjoys the hobby of running a TVR and discussing it on PistonHeads.
By his own admission and in the words of Lee himself...
What I was concerned about however was being accused by a moderator that I financially benefit from my posts. To this end all I actually seek is a straightforward grownup public apology from that moderator on this forum, and if the moderator can't find the courage to do so himself perhaps Lee could offer the apology on behalf of his volunteer staff member?
Now the very Executive Director of Pistonheads has freely admitted to secretly investigating me himself, and publicly confirmed on his own forum the accusations of his moderator were indeed completely false..... I'd like to think this nicely frees the path for my public apology?

Is it just me or is there a strong smell of paranoia in this thread? Don't tell me you've never 'done research' on people who attract your attention for whatever reason be it good or bad?
That said I think most active users of Linkedin realise that you leave a 'footprint' when you look at someone's profile on there. Indeed you get a notification of the fact so you can't look at a Linkedin profile without the owner of that profile being informed, hardly stalking or covert. That's the reason I'd never use Linkedin to check anyone out I didn't want to know I'd done so.....
I think its a perfectly reasonable action when someone criticises your business to want to know a little more about that person and whether they have a ulterior motive for their comments.
No one makes you visit here and post..... and when it comes down to it, it IS both their garden and their ball so if they want to take it away..

In fact I do it all the time.
All I'm really looking for here is an apology for being falsly acaused of financially benefitting from my posts.
Oh and for my second attempt to discuss a Chimaera cutaway to not be deleted this time.

No you didn't say you don't but the tone of your post suggests you are 'surprised' and 'shocked' to find out that a senior Haymarket employee is looking at your profile and in the circumstances I suggest that it's not.All I'm looking for here is an apology for being falsely caused of financially benefiting from my posts.
You're not the only one who has had posts have been removed here for what you believe is no good reason or been accused of stuff you haven't done, but I learnt after a few years that it isn't worth worrying about or wanting an apology as it's unlikely to be forthcoming and wasting energy on it is just that; a waste of your time and effort.
